In 1960, our founder Mr Tan Tiong Hoe started working as an apprentice in a Dutch company, Mirandolle Voute & Co., (S) Pte Ltd where he acquire the knowledge of Coffee Roasting and the Blending of Specialty Coffee.

In 1963, at a young age of 20, he started his own coffee business under the unregistered name of Tiong Hoe & Company where coffee distributions were targeted to households and small Food and Beverage outlets.

In 1970s, due to the massive increase in raw coffee prices, the mixture of maize and coffee became a common industrial practice as the price of maize was relatively cheap. However, Mr. Tan insists in roasting 100% pure coffee to maintain his standard of Quality Coffee.

In 1975, Tiong Hoe Gim Kee Trading Co., (THGK) was registered. The company grows with the penetration into Hotel Industry, Clubs, Cafés, Restaurants, Ship’s Chandler, Government Sectors, etc.

In 1985, Fresh Café Distributors was set up as a subsidiary of THGK in the move to create a new image. The extension of Fully-Automatic Machine was hence commenced.

Today, Fresh Café is still a family business managed by the second generation of the Tan family. Despite the many transformations to the company, Fresh Café's commitment and dedication in providing Quality Coffee has never changed.
